I was in desperate need of a family day last week. We had been going nonstop for weeks with work, visitors and just every day life. Sometimes I just need a time out...a time out to soak in some family time. I know that some day I won't have it, so I make sure to appreciate the time when I can get it.
I had seen a little blub on the internet about The Preacher's Treehouse. There's not much out there about it and maybe that's a blessing. For those that stumble upon it are in for such a treat. We packed a lunch and headed out on our 2 hour drive. After many "are we there yet" and "how much longer's", we finally found arrived at The Preachers Treehouse...and let me just say, it was amazing. I found very little information on the internet about it. It's almost like it's a secret, hidden treasure for those who stumble upon it.
From what I've learned, it was (and still is being) built by a Baptist preacher that was guided to this spot to build the treehouse. I haven't found out how long he's been building it, but it's still a work in progress. It's all built with recycled or donated wood, from old barns, sheds and scrap wood. He's put about $12,000 of his own money into it, mainly for nails. :) When the leaves fall, the tree branches are supposed to form a cross. Oh, and it's roughly 10 stories tall with the top peak! I'll just let the pictures speak for themselves.
There's a service each Sunday at 1pm
The sound of his flute echoed through the air...almost spiritually soothing
Awesome lawn chair swing!...excess wood waiting to be nailed in the background
We never did figure out why there are doorknobs up there :)
The animal whisperer strikes again! Animals LOVE him!
Don't wait for "some day"...go out and find your hidden treasure!
