The one thing I love about Old Stone Fort Park is that you can hear the water way before you can see it! The roar of the falls draw you like a fly to the light. Always looking for a better view, peaking through the trees.
Continuing down the path, you look for that tiny glimpse that will show you the big picture.
And when you find it...wow.
It never gets old.
Even when it's raining.
But all good things must come to an end...that doesn't mean I was finished with pictures! :)
I really don't think this bridge would have popped as much had the sun been out! The rain and cloudy weather really did make the colors magical.
It's amazing to know that just down the river and around the bend is an amazing waterfall! It appears so calm.
All good things must come to an end. Until next fall...
I really, really, slacked off last year. My resolution this year is not to let time get away from me and to post AT LEAST once a week. It should be more than that, but ya gotta start somewhere! I'm pretty sure if I look at my stats from last year and the previous years, I will have posted almost half as much as previous years. That's sad. So, my goal will be once a week and if I'm lucky or ambitious, it'll be more!
I took some beautiful fall pictures...that will be my next post!
We are ALL ready for spring. We may not have had the snow that the north has had, but we are not used to it being so cold for so long here. One day last month it was in the 60's and I grabbed up the kids and we went hiking. It was just too pretty to just hang out at home. So glad we did.
Over the river (stream) we go...
To the top of the hill...
To halfway down...
Someone's gonna fall off the ledge...to my defense, I HAD handed off my camera to the kid standing in the water and it was more like a large step down that I missed and landed bottom first in the cold water...and to kids laughing. Plus I had put my phone in my front pocket, just in case. Ha! Ya gotta live life! Best day ever with the kids...not really best day ever, but it was a great day.
And totally worth getting wet over!
It's so much prettier when the leaves are on the trees.
Taking waterfall pictures when I hear..."Hey mom, look." Geez, boys!
Come on it, the water's great. Not.
It may be a tad blurry, but it's my favorite picture. I have no idea what he was laughing at, but it's pure joy. Oh and the dork went and stood under the water. Get out and live life! It's way too short, so make the best of every day!
We've got a new youth group starting up at church and everyone's excited about it. They planned a short hike on Sunday and we decided to tag along. We've hiked this spot before, but haven't been back in a few years...it was fun to see it from the kids perspective...and realize most have them have never done anything like this before.
On our way home from The Preachers Treehouse I knew we'd be driving right by the turnoff for Rock Island State Park...and with the leaves starting to turn, I wanted to go back. It was a beautiful way to end our day!
Our first stop was actually a lookout halfway between the treehouse and Rock Island. Perfect.
Thank you for indulging me "my family day" ♥
Look in almost the exact center of the picture...what do you see?
Kayakers, several of them!
Always the wise guy!
Perspective on distance/people!
What an awesome family day we had. I want a repeat...soon!
