After visiting the state park nature center, we started venturing around to other parts of the lake. THATS'S when we saw 2 flying overhead and found a spot to pull over. Luckily there was a pier there and I was able to catch a glimpse of them over the water. It was worth the trip right there. (Notice the REAL ducks in the water too! Ha!
And then it landed. I'm assuming on a sand bar or something, I'm not really sure. But it was really cool.
I know people that see them all the time. But when you don't, you tend to appreciate them a little bit more. This was an awesome day and punk #2 has asked me several times when we're going back!
As we were leaving, we saw this massive flock of seagulls. It was crazy! I have no idea how many birds were out there, but it was cool to see. The one thing I try to do everyday is appreciate the little things. They may be pain in the butt birds, but God put them here for a reason. Appreciate everything, because it can be gone in the blink of an eye!
It's been raining a little bit (in our area)...and sometimes a lot, for the past 20 days. Some days a good storm and some days just a sprinkle. But something is better than nothing...and we went way too long without nothing...so I will not complain. But I have to say, we had one monster of a storm 2 nights ago. There was enough lightening to keep the sky lit up most of the night...along with all of us.
The next morning we went out to play! It's been a long while since we had a big puddle to play in...how can you tell them to "stay out"...when the dog's the worst of the bunch! :)
I have come to realize the dog is as bad as the kids. DON'T say "wanna go to the park", unless you're serious! Because she will hound you like there's no tomorrow! And then you're committed!
I typically don't walk around the backside of the park unless it's really warm out, because it will require the dog being hosed off.
As you can see! She entertains herself running from (mud) puddle to (mud) puddle...I'm beginning to think she's part pig! She took off over to an area we were just at, so I sat down and held my hand up like I had a ball. (Who can resist a ball?) Unfortunately I did not have one...but she didn't care!
I love the flinging water as she's running
She looks so vicious! (Far from it!)
She didn't care, she was ready to hit another puddle.
...with the sicky. Although he didn't act sick and "technically" could have gone back to school after 10am, when he'd been on the medicine for 24hrs, but he wasn't having any of that! (And his doctors note said tomorrow, he said.) We were going to the park because it was so nice out...or that's what I was told at least. :) This dog is as crazy as the kid. She would put the ball in the drain, watch it start floating and then run over to the other side.
And once she was done...
Someone was a bit muddy...good thing it was warm enough to hose her off!
Sickness has taken hold, but I'm finally coming back to life. The weather was lovely yesterday, so I took the dog on a walk to get some fresh air...she apparently had more fun than I did! I'm glad I had my phone on me, because this was priceless! I finally upgraded my cellphone since my last one was a piece of #*%*#&% and I was rather impressed with the picture quality...video was a little shaky, but you can't have everything. ;)
Someone needed to be hosed off!
She keeps looking at me like she EXPECTS me to come help her! THAT wasn't happening! :)
I'm debating starting a 52/365 photo project. I'm not good with keeping a schedule and "knowing" I've "got" to take certain pictures each week. Since this weeks was "anything we wanted", I guess this qualifies. And since the little darlings don't go back to school until THURSDAY (thank you school board...insert sarcasm)...we went fishing. Well, let's correct that...I was bugged until I gave in and took him fishing. Umm, hello, little dude, IT'S FREEZING OUTSIDE. But, I sucked it up and took him because he's been dying to try out his new "Banjo" lures that he bought with a gift card. I tried to tell them they were a gimmick...as did several others, but it's what he wanted and guess what, he's got to learn that not everything you see on tv works. :) I'm going to like this little experiment! Funny though...I'm thinking he's going to prove all of us wrong, just because that's the kind of kid he is! Time will tell...WHEN IT WARMS UP! Even the fish were like...dude, it's too cold to chase anything, what's wrong with you?! ;)
The river really was that color...I've never seen it like that before.
I love sunflare!
Don't let the pretty day fool you, it was freezing out! And he only lasted 20 minutes before saying it was too cold. But I took him, that's all that matters! :)
