We typically leave town on long weekends, but this year I don't think we've left town on ANY weekend. Totally unusual for us not to travel. But as the kids get older and get busier...I really didn't think they could get busier...we tend to stay in town. So this was our first year to experience our annual Memorial Day outdoor church service. And boy am I glad we did.
After setting up the chairs, the youth had their Sunday school class while the Worship team warmed up.
It was amazing to see how many people filed in after service started. Everything was full about 15 minutes after I took this picture. Largest crowd yet!
We were honored to welcome back Hack Bartholomew from New Orleans. He plays a mean trumpet!
THIS is how we have an outdoor church service! Feeling the music!
Our youngest visitor with Grandpa Mike. I will make sure we're in town next year. What an awesome day!
I had heard of "the church on the hill" in our area. I had seen a few pictures and Sunday was just the day to go find it. After losing the $100, (see previous post) it was just our day to go exploring. We didn't want to go far, but we needed some "us" time. The New Hope Chapel was just the ticket. What an amazing view that congregation gets to see when they worship.
We waited all day and into the evening for it to start
snowing...I thought the weather guys were going to get it
wrong again as all the schools closed for today. I gave up
looking for it and went to bed before midnight. Apparently
midnight was the key, because between 1200am-600am, we received
9+ inches of the lovely white stuff. I figured the little
darlings would be up at the crack of dark to go play, but they
surprised me and slept in.
We took a walk before most people decided to try to venture
out. It really was beautiful.
THANK GOODNESS!!! And I had an extra child today, but
they all got along great and we had a nice day. Toward the
end, I let them shoot the pellet guns while I took some of
my own shots with my new lens. Still learning it, but so far
I like it. Also showed the boys who was boss when it came to
hitting the target! Don't mess with a girl that can shoot! ;)
One of my first outdoor shots with the new lens was terribly
underexposed. But, I really liked the picture. Thank heavens
I was able to save it in photoshop! Here's the before/after!
The first one I took is prettier because the flower was completely framed. This one is kind of blah because the flower is closed. Still not bad though. This one shows more detail on the wings.
This little beauty showed up yesterday. Poor things wing was all tore up but it surely wasn't slowing him/her down! It was nice to find another variety. I think the yellow swallowtail is more photogenic. The blue on the wings tends to be more metallic looking. And when it's wings are opened, its all black and you don't see the pretty blue, like on the outside.
