We will NEVER forget

DSC_0066 web

This is a piece of the World Trade Center. I did not know this was here when I stopped by the KY Veteran's Cemetery last fall. Apparently any state can request a piece of it if they want to build a memorial. (I just heard of a local memorial being dedicated tonight as a matter of fact.)

Summer pt 2

Finishing up our weekend in Kentucky from a few weeks ago. Hopefully we can get back up there in the next few weeks again before school starts. But July is setting up to be a incredibly busy month. VBS starts tomorrow, next week we'll be working at the fair (and hoping for a temp break) and then starts band camp to round out the month! Crazy! And school starts that next week! I just got the fall schedule for marching band and my head's already spinning! We need to enjoy what's left of our summer!

This one has us all wrapped up!

I don't know what I'm going to do with this one! He's got $100's of dollars in fishing gear and he's hand fishing with a hook and line!

"Noodling"...checking the boxes.

Empty...I'm sorry, but I am NOT putting my hand in a box under water to see if there's a catfish in there! I don't care if you have the hole upside down and snakes/turtles "can't" get in there! There's ALWAYS a first for everything!

Hanging out before a evening boat ride. My big kid camped out in the tent he got last Christmas. Set it up and took it down all himself! They'll be getting more supplies this Christmas too!

Summer pt 1

Summer is (sorta) flying by! Hard to believe school starts in 1 month! These hot temps are making it hard to be outside, but we're trying to make some fun memories with the punks. :)

The 3 of us drove up to the lake a few weeks ago, before the temps took off and it was just beautiful. I'm glad they can enjoy the carefree summer days and have plenty of memories as they grow (too fast) up!

Oh, smile? Ok!

His snarky, "I don't want my picture taken" look...I didn't listen and did it anyway! :) The picture looks so funny because he's so "not tan" in it...he's so dark now from swimming, it's funny!

Foggy Sunrise

I might not have caught a sunset at the lake, but I had forgotten I had captured this sunrise back in May, when I had to drive the youngest to his uncles at o-dark freakin early one morning, so that he could be in a fishing tournament with him. This picture made the 40 minute round trip drive worth it.

Happy Birthday my brother...who turned 40 yesterday. We celebrated Saturday with family and a few friends. Laid back and chilling at the lake. Although we almost sank the pontoon at the end of the night...we're still not sure how we managed to pull off a "stoppie" on a pontoon, but I had the baby (in a life vest) and was in the back, so we were going down last! :) These 2 pictures just crack me up. The conversation went like this...Hunter: I really want to knock Uncle Brett into the water. Uncle Brett: Bring it big boy. Hunter: Ok...Hunter was not going down without a fight (or both of them going in) and he made it work. I think he said "told ya" as he came up laughing. He cracks me up!

Lake fun

The boys were able to spend spring break at the lake since their uncle isn't working at the moment. I didn't get much argument out of them. And why is it that when we have a week to ourselves, we're too busy to do anything?! :)

I really hate taking pictures in full sun. I know sometimes you just have to do it, but the harsh shadows really irritate me! I tried to soften them with some haze, but I'm still not happy about it. (I've been told I'm too picky ;)

And release...

This hawk dove into the water near us and came up with his lunch...and then flew right over us. Unfortunately I did not have my zoom on, so this was as close as I could get.

Better view of the fish.

We got some good time in with the baby this weekend. She is so sweet! I love this picture with Grandpa.

Happy girl!

This little guy was in front of the patio door when we woke up. He must of flown into the big window, because he was just sitting there watching at us. He finally flew off.

One kid was catching fish, one wasn't...who was unhappy?!

Guess what happens when the kid hears "kill it" instead of "gun it", which is what was really said? AND we happen to be at the furthest point from the dock? Yep, the boat dies. AND durning the UofL/KY finals basketball game. Do you think there was a soul on the lake?! After about 20 minutes, we were able to get a tow. :)

Still trying to get those fish to turn on!

Sunset was lovely.

What happens when you're popping allergy medication to try to deal with the out of control pollen count. I hope he can survive the week.

Family pics

We were in a hurry to finish before the storm came, but I think this came out ok. Unfortunately it's hard NOT to blow out a muddy lake and a bald head on a cloudy day! :)

I wish Madelynn was looking at me instead of momma...and unfortunately the other one I took that had all three of them looking, had hair blowing in Brooklynn's face. Guess you can't win them all on a windy day.

Good morning God!

What a beautiful Sunday morning sunrise!

The crazy kid...he might want me to think he's got a big fish on, but the faker doesn't realize his pole's not bending! ;)

Happy (belated) Veteran's Day to our Soldiers. Thank YOU for keeping the 'free' in Freedom. The Day after Veteran's day, we were out of town for a baby shower. While running an errand, I stopped at the KY Veteran's Cemetery. I've always wanted to drive thru it, but never had a chance. It seemed like a perfect day to do it and I made the time. All I can say is what an incredible tribute to our fallen Hero's. It took my breath away.

I did not realize they had a piece of the World Trade Center steel...but it's another beautiful tribute.

I did not realize when I was standing in front of the "new" section that I had tears rolling down my face.

I am thankful I took the time to pay tribute.
