I have a love/hate relationship with this picture. I love it because it's my boys, but I hate it because something in it is off. I'm not sure what it is or why I feel that way. But for now, I will love it because we spent part of the day at Opryland enjoying the Christmas decorations. And I will remember the punks being crazy and sliding down the handrails. :)
As usual, getting Christmas photos is like pulling teeth. I get 1 chance (usually), so I have to be quick. They wanted the horses in this years photo...definitely NOT as easy as the dog! :) But I think we did ok.
It would have been helpful to have the telephoto when we did these (I bought it 1 week after), because he can get skittish when he sees something he's not familiar with. (It's not like I've not been up close taking pictures of him!)
I just love this, so I cropped it in...it might have to go on my wall!
Because of our schedules and life in general, we don't get up to visit family too often...and almost never from August-November due to our band schedule. And unfortunately, I missed seeing this munchkin all year, because when we did get up there, they were busy. It's amazing how fast they change, much less how fast they grow! Hopefully it won't be a whole year until I see her again.
I love this picture...taken right before they left. Pure love.
I didn't take a lot of pictures over the holidays, but I did snap a sweet picture of my niece and my youngest looking at a book. Great-grandma always sent my boys books for Christmas. I really loved that she would do that, especially since the kids get so many toys. So in honor of grandma, I gave my niece books for Christmas. I hope she comes to love books as much as we all do.
Life has been crazy the last 2+ weeks. We all had to stop though and take pause when the Connecticut shootings happened. We all hugged our children and cried many tears. We pray for the families as they struggle to get through this Christmas season and we paid tribute to the 26 following our Christmas Eve Candlelight service.
The clouds cleared and the moon shone bright.
We lit and released 28 balloons. 26 for Connecticut, 1 for 2 local missing children and 1 for children of violent crimes. It was a fitting tribute to our service.
Each name was read and the church bell rung as each balloon lifted off.
...born 12-19-11 @ 805am...7lb 12oz and 19 1/2" long...and so, so beautiful. I see plenty of weekends visiting this coming year. Good thing it's a quick 2 hour drive! It's amazing how fast they change. She was even cuter this morning! How can that be?! I can't wait to see her again and take her newborn pictures next week! Happy Birthday little girl!
Sugar and spice and all things nice...that's what little girls are made of."
I made a Santa Hat, from scratch, in about an hour, WITHOUT a pattern. Go figure. It turned out great...a hair small, but some pulling and stretching made it fit better...and too cute on baby! (I bet you're waiting on a picture!) :)
I'm checking off things one by one and I'm starting to see the light. Packages shipped, shopping done, handmade gifts finished...sorta..., school's ALMOST out and the spirit is slowly returning. I'm heading out of town to go meet my new niece/nephew, so hopefully new baby pictures to come!
I love holiday bokeh...need to try some more before taking down the lights.
I have lost my Christmas Spirit. I am trying hard to find it or regain it, but it's tough. I'm tired and emotionally beat up. This is a hard holiday after a hard year. I hate that the kids can tell, but I love all the hugs they randomly give me. It's what keeps me going. But I try to remember...
Sometimes it's hard to get into the Christmas spirit. We try, because we know at the end of this tough year, we've survived it...and we're looking forward to a brighter and better 2012. So, since I forced Mr Social (not really) to drive me up to Bass Pro for some Christmas shopping, I wanted to walk thru Opryland to look at their decorations. Mr Social stayed in the car. :) It was worth it...some of it has changed due to the flooding, but it's still beautiful and worth a look see if you get the chance.
It's funny how it drives you nuts if your internet is down
for more than a little while! We've been down almost nonstop
since Sunday. We were up some of Monday and then down again.
And that also means no phone. That doesn't bug me as much as
having no internet. Go figure. It finally came back up last night,
but was still struggling. (Still no phone though.) I can live
with that. (And it's forwarded to my cell.) We'll see what
A few chuckles from Christmas...
Not sure what they were discussing, but it looked pretty
Never make funny faces when you sister (and mom) is holding
Awesome pictures coming later...I woke up to a foggy wonderland!
Nice time to take a early morning drive after dropping the kiddies
off at school!
The tree's finally up and decorated...it's not my favorite chore to
do, so the kids take over. We are limited as to where it goes, so furniture
gets rearranged and it just throws things our of wack. Oh well, it's
only for a few weeks...I can suck it up. Heaven knows there's plenty
of things to keep me busy enough not to worry about it!
I saw a picture on Flickr the other day that gave me the idea, so as I was rearranging the ornaments after the kids were finished decorating it,
I found an ornament that they had each made and made a cute little print.
