17/52 "Growth/Mellow Yellow"

I had my settings off and as much as I liked this picture, there was just too much noise. So after editing it the way I wanted, I added a couple layers of texture and it looks better. I know I'm too picky...it's a bad habit! ;) (I'm also still trying to catch up from last week...AND I had another (fun) job Saturday night, so I've still got tons of photos to go through from that. Busy = not a bad thing! :)

Whirlwind Weekend

We are homebodies. We typically hang around not doing much over the weekends. Fishing, bike riding, etc...family stuff. Well, last weekend was probably the busiest we've been in like forever. We started it Friday night with Maison's first jazz band performance. He was able to round up the perfect hat from a friend of ours...thank you Jay...and daddy rounded it out with the sunglasses. Great job guys and gals.

My new lens arrived the other day...it was rainy, so we couldn't go out and test it. The next day was beautiful but I had to bribe the punks to cooperate! Gotta love kids with a goal! :) I'm still on the fence about it, but so far it does a great job on portraits.

Note to self: don't wear orange as it will reflect...white always works better!

Brothers

We went for a walk a few days ago to mail a letter. The youngest decided to buy ice cream for him and his brother. They really are great kids.

Instagram

Instagram has finally come to Droid phones. While I don't take a lot of pictures with my phone, it's a fun alternative in the spur of the moment. These are a few I've taken in the past few weeks or so.

15/52 "Minimal"

Someone was bored Sunday, so he talked me into a walk. Plus I was finally able to check out the picture he drew for school and came in 3rd place. They've got the winners pictures hanging in town hall. All I've seen was the picture from the paper of all the winners, so I figured it was about time to see what all the excitement was about. :) And for someone that complains that he can't draw, to come in 3rd place out of the whole 5th grade class is pretty good! As we were heading back home and passing this wall, I made him stand in front of it for a good picture. Every time I think I'm going to get rid of this lens because I don't like it, I take a picture like this. I didn't have to do much to this one, which just kills me. Usually I'm complaining because it's just not sharp enough...and then I take this. Just my luck. :) So now I'm back on the fence on getting rid of it, darn it!

Again with getting caught up. Just when I think I'm good, something happens (usually life ;) and I get behind again.

Lake fun

The boys were able to spend spring break at the lake since their uncle isn't working at the moment. I didn't get much argument out of them. And why is it that when we have a week to ourselves, we're too busy to do anything?! :)

I really hate taking pictures in full sun. I know sometimes you just have to do it, but the harsh shadows really irritate me! I tried to soften them with some haze, but I'm still not happy about it. (I've been told I'm too picky ;)

This hawk dove into the water near us and came up with his lunch...and then flew right over us. Unfortunately I did not have my zoom on, so this was as close as I could get.

13/52 Get Emotional

This was a pretty emotional picture to take...she is on the mend and we have taken the bandages off to hopefully help it heal. She's still limping around and we won't let her run, but her licking it should speed up the healing...I hope. :)

Adventures

This little guy was in front of the patio door when we woke up. He must of flown into the big window, because he was just sitting there watching at us. He finally flew off.

One kid was catching fish, one wasn't...who was unhappy?!

Guess what happens when the kid hears "kill it" instead of "gun it", which is what was really said? AND we happen to be at the furthest point from the dock? Yep, the boat dies. AND durning the UofL/KY finals basketball game. Do you think there was a soul on the lake?! After about 20 minutes, we were able to get a tow. :)

Still trying to get those fish to turn on!

What happens when you're popping allergy medication to try to deal with the out of control pollen count. I hope he can survive the week.
