The eldest left Friday afternoon for a 2 day church activity in Nashville. He was super excited and sent us several texts while there letting us know he was having a blast. (Un)lucky for me, they came back to the church (at 11pm) to spend the night (before getting up early the next morning to go again) and requested I bring him allergy/cold medicine. Again (un)lucky for me, I forgot to bring aspirin for his sore throat Friday night and he called me again (early) Saturday to run it up. Other than the fact that it is less than a mile from us, it was still 6 AM...and cold out! :( But you do it for your kids. (I did make daddy go get him that night when they got in at midnight! :)
Anyway, after he left on Friday, I happened to find a sheet of paper on the printer. It made me say wow. It made me smile and yet it made me want to cry. (Because no one wants to think of their child dying.) But it made me realize...in all our ups/downs, we ARE doing something right!
After editing this picture from yesterday, I decided to add his words to it. Pretty insightful for a
I've been loving our weather the last week. We've gotten outside to play and enjoy the fresh air and I lucked out on this weeks challenge when I took this yesterday while one of the kids searched for a missing screw driver that was on the other side of the fence. Who knew my dandelion (shot through the fence) was going to work as my "framed" shot. I think it works quite well.
I stumbled on a website on textures and have been playing with them. Thank you Kim Klassen for inspiring me to keep at it.
I have been wanting to do a cake smash in forever. Ryan finally turned 1 and we had a blast. Funny how kids usually have no problems getting dirty...he really wanted nothing to do with the cake. And unfortunately for momma, he liked to walk to her with the bright blue icing. :) Next time I will offer the high chair as an option to try to contain the "walkers". ;)
I am caught up on my weeks! Whoo Hoo! I had been thinking about doing this shot for a while and have seen some others with dice, so I might have to do another one with the guys play a game of farkle. But I have the main one done, so I'm happy!
The "trust" factor was pretty high that the kid would catch the ball while I was laying right under it. He came close a couple of times!
...with the sicky. Although he didn't act sick and "technically" could have gone back to school after 10am, when he'd been on the medicine for 24hrs, but he wasn't having any of that! (And his doctors note said tomorrow, he said.) We were going to the park because it was so nice out...or that's what I was told at least. :) This dog is as crazy as the kid. She would put the ball in the drain, watch it start floating and then run over to the other side.
And once she was done...
Someone was a bit muddy...good thing it was warm enough to hose her off!
Sickness has struck again and I'm a day late...but...I am closer to catching up! I was struggling with "pretty ugly" and was going to go with some trash in the ditch that I saw, but the light was so pretty, I decided to go another way. So my pretty ugly is the bare, boring winter trees that are missing their leaves in the pretty setting sunlight. I can also throw in that my "pretty" boy has an "ugly" case of strep. :( And after the nurse said "no school tomorrow because you've got to be on the antibiotic's for 24hrs", he "perked" right up. Although the look of horror might have crossed my face. ;) At least he's on the mend and will be back to just being "pretty" soon enough.
We've never been big on Valentine's day. It's just something we've never been hung up over. It's one day. As long as you show your love EVERY DAY, I think Valentine's is just an over priced Hallmark holiday. :) And my biggest pet peeve...don't buy me a card. Really. I don't need material things to know that you love me. My idea of a great gift...getting my hair done...which is what I spent Valentine's doing. I go so long between hair cuts that's it is a treat for me not to have to hack on my bangs. ;) So imagine my surprise when I came home to this...
Which is funny in itself, because that meant he had to go into the store HIMSELF to buy them. "Mr Social" does not like going to the store...FOR ANYTHING! :)
This isn't the greatest picture, but I love the bokeh & colors.
And I did receive a card...my FAVORITE kind of card to receive!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's day, no matter how you chose to celebrate it.
I'm still playing catch up on my weeks, but hopefully I'll get this weeks picture done on time...I can hope at least. I think this one qualifies as "chaos" as he was wearing my pink jacket, his Packer's hat and black gloves. The conversation went something like this...
11 yr old: Is that a North Face jacket? (My name brand kid)
Me: No, it's from Kohls.
11yr old: it looks like a North Face jacket.
Me: It's not, but it's really warm...you want to wear it?
11 yr old: Heck yea!
Me: It's pink, are you sure?
11yr old: I don't care, it's fuzzy and warm.
Me: Ok...so glad my kids are not afraid to go with the flow. :)
Sickness has taken hold, but I'm finally coming back to life. The weather was lovely yesterday, so I took the dog on a walk to get some fresh air...she apparently had more fun than I did! I'm glad I had my phone on me, because this was priceless! I finally upgraded my cellphone since my last one was a piece of #*%*#&% and I was rather impressed with the picture quality...video was a little shaky, but you can't have everything. ;)
Someone needed to be hosed off!
She keeps looking at me like she EXPECTS me to come help her! THAT wasn't happening! :)
